Daily Dream Journal – In a canoe & some violence

I see someone with a knife, a teenager, who plans to use it to harm someone I care about.

I think of how to kick it out of their hands.

There is a large motor home and I see it on the street. A woman is clinging to the front of it, not able to get up and not able to get off.

I am on a river bank. I was planning to walk but change plans and decide to travel by water in a canoe. When I get in, I get right to the front and the canoe tips up. I figure its fine but then someone I know passes me in their canoe and the look they give me & my canoe tells me I better fix it.

So I back up and then it’s flat and I see what they mean.

Positive Visualization For Transformation

Try this:

  1. See yourself doing something you want to do – for example, vaccuuming the floor
  2. Hear what negative thoughts arise when you think about doing this
  3. See the source of that voice – turn it down
  4. When you see and hear that the source of this voice is gone continue on your work

First Principle of Dreamwork – Symbolic Meaning First Then Literal

This may not be the first principle but it seems foundational.

The reason it’s so important to think of the symbolic meaning is because the dreamworld is a symbolic realm which harbours unconscious emotions and forgotten memories or forgotten wishes and desires. Thinking of the metaphor first uncovers mysteries about the True Self. Once these mysteries are understood then there are so many choices and options metaphorically and literally. So take my advice: find the symoblic meaning first and then do the literal.

Another reason symbolism is important is because there are some symbols or metaphors which are very powerful in a dream but are NOT meant to be taken literal, ever. A prime example of this is if someone dreams about their ex. Dreaming about being with an ex is about remembering a quality the ex had. If the dream is positive then you can think about that positive quality they had and how to integrate it in your own life. If the dream is negative then think about ways in which you have this in yourself too and how you can change it for the better.

The dream doesn’t mean to literally go be with them. The dream is a symbol and meant to be taken metaphorically.

The dream I had last night is a good example of this.

I dreamed of being given a house, alcohol, porn, cigarettes and food and had a group of people with me who also wanted to “party” for a weekend.

Symbolically, this means there are higher states of being which I am arising to now. Alcohol is a SYMBOL of becoming intoxicated with life, with a spiritual life.

This dream does not mean that I should have a party, get drunk and engage in sexual delights with strangers literally.

The dream symbolizes having the space within myself now to enjoy myself, to enjoy life, and to arise to higher states of pleasurable happiness.

So what I can do after a dream like this is to think of what gives me Joy for real in real life and do more of that. Lately there are two things which really stand out that bring me a lot of Joy. One is sharing food with a family in need. The other is helping to return children to their families after they have been unlawfully taken away.

These two things bring me more Joy than anything else in the world.

The dream was actually symbolizing that it’s time for me to experience more and more Joy and feel uplifted and intoxicated with the Happiness of this.

Does that make sense?

Daily Dream Diary – Cleaning, Big Fish, House to my Self

December 27, 2016

Three really cool things happened in my dreams last night.

When I think of the dream world as a place I can visit and experience it brings me a lot of hope for such a positive future and it also brings me a lot of Joy.

Last night was one of those joyful nights. The feelings I’ve woken up with are playfulness, curiousity, gratitude and expectation of fun!

In one dream my Mom was leaving a house to me and my friends to stay in while she was gone. I was thinking of all the rules and making sure we took good care of the space and then she handed us some wine bottles, showed us where porn was and said smoking is fine so long as we do it outside. We were all like, “hooray! Time to Party!” and then she left.

Next I was in this large room with dim lights and I turned the lights on to see there was an enormous fish on the floor. It could swim as though there were water but as far as I could tell there was no water. At first I thought it was a shark but on closer inspection I noticed it was more like a Sting Ray. It began moving around the room as though we were in an aquarium and it placed itself on the window. I thought it was so cool!

Then in one other part I was just cleaning up the house. Picking up things people had left behind and I said to myself, well, it’s not so bad to be the one cleaning up things. People appreciate that. It’s a great service. And so I just didn’t mind picking up the bits of garbage and tidying the house for people to come over.

Daily Dream Journal – Cleaning Old Stuff out of an Attic

I am in an attic. There’s so much stuff there from childhood.

My oldest friend is there, laughing and enjoying going through old memories with me.

She gets worried about something and I encourage her.

We sort through boxes and items and plan what to give away or keep.

In the end she is happy and that makes me happy too.
