Dancing in a Dream

In the dream I’m seated in a room & two seniors are dancing. It’s a kitchen-type room and they just keep dancing & dancing. Their Joy eventually permeates through my skepticism about their behaviour and I laugh as I watch them do the Charleston, Fox trot and other dances from the early part of the century.

My Dream of Bowing Before a Chinese Battalion

23 January 2018

I am crossing a rope bridge stretching from one large canyon to the next. Wooden planks, loosely held together by century-old ropes shimmy beneath my feet. To the right of me, is a mountain range. An enormous temple, with traditional Chinese architecture, rests on a nearby mountain side, reaching far into the heavens with its height and glory. Red pillars, gold embellishments, and high, angled stair cases standing out against the baby blue sky and forest green of the nearby woods.

I say to my travel companion, who is a lot like my friendly mother, I say to her that I’d like to spend time at that temple, perhaps it is a Buddhist temple, I query. She indicates that maybe we can stop there and spend time but maybe we can’t.

We continue along the shaky wooden bridge and as we near the land I raise my gaze upward and discover there is another large Chinese-style temple established on the mountain before us. A multi-ranked army, comprised of dozens of foot soldiers busy themselves with a variety of small tasks and their sprinkling across the mountain side gives the impression of tiny ants, busy at work.

When the emperor sees us, he calls his army to attention and shouts out a greeting. They all bow to us. Even though the bridge is rocking beneath my feet, I steady my footing and bow back to indicate my respect and my rank as a Martial Artist. At that point I realize I have a long sword in my left hand and a short sword in my right. I am a warrior and they acknowledge my presence among them. My bowing sets me a part from my companion and I am seen as her protector.

Positive Dream About Receiving a Gift

15 September 2017

In the dream, a guy and I are walking outside of a building to a yard where he has a collection of special items which he treasures. He shows me one and it’s beautiful. I tell him that. He picks it up and shows me details of it. It’s sort of like a music box with a very detailed scene on the top with figurines. He tells me that he bought it for me as he uses the tip of his fingers to polish in a few spots. Somehow it feels like the most special gift I’ve ever received and I tell him thank you. I love it.

When we turn to walk back he puts his arm around me and I put mine around him. I feel so close to him right there.

My analysis: Sometimes positive dreams come as a reminder of the good times so that it is easier to call this to mind when something comes up in the day which makes it easy to forget.

In this case. the dream is reminding me that sometimes the very simplest of gifts can  have a huge impact and be very meaningful. Gifts in a dream are symbols for gifts of character in real life. A music box is something which plays music and lifts the spirit. So the dream is reminding me to notice how sharing of gifts, of skills, in relationships can lift the spirit.

What I can do is think about what relationships in my life can be uplifted and how I can share my inner gifts with others to bring joy.

Sometimes a positive dream like this shows up to remind you of something you are really good at because you will need those skills for what is coming up next.

What is a positive dream you’ve had lately? Can you think of how it applies to a gift you have in real life? Please share your comments below!

How Dreamwork Heals Negative Patterns of Thought

What I’m writing about now will likely sound radical to some but will sound like nothing much to others. Dreamwork heals negative patterns of thought which lead to abasement in life by giving the dreamer a new way to deal with negative emotions. Dreamwork is NOT about just getting rid of the old negatives; it’s about increasing the positives.

Dreamwork can really help people who have experienced trauma. The emotional pattern of the trauma/fear is stored in the amygdala in the brain. These fear-patterns show up in dreams in what some people call nightmares. They show up in real life too, when someone decides they will or won’t do something because of the presence or absence of fear.

By working through the emotions which show up in a dream and by taking small steps daily to build up positive qualities such as Confidence, Courage, Flexibility and Peacefulness then new emotional patterns can develop and essentially re-wire the brain. In this way the entire emotional experience of the dreamer can undergo a 360 degree change.

Preparing For March 2018 in September 2017 – 6 Month Countdown to a 19-Day Fast

07 September 2017

Every year, since I was 14 I’ve participated in a 19-Day Fast in March. IMG_0874

Many people around the world participate in this Fast from the age of 15 – 70 but when I was 14 I was so eager to begin that I couldn’t wait and so I gave it a try a year earlier than most. The aim is to avoid food & drink from sunrise to sunset for 19 days. The only year I didn’t participate fully was when I was nursing in 2005. This is a time for turning away from material & physical realms and focusing on the spiritual & non-physical realms.

Last year, I fasted for a short time but then a terrible sinus infection prevented me from continuing because it required a doctor’s attention and she recommended a strong prescription which prevented me from fasting for the full 19 days.

The 19-Day Fast is one of my favourite times of year and I regard it with a lot of reverence and Joy. When I couldn’t Fast, I felt disappointed and grieved at the missed opportunity.

It is such a refreshing time of revitalizing and cleansing and improves my digestion to a high degree. This year I have been feeling some stomach pains which I haven’t felt in about a decade and I think some of it is in part due to not Fasting for the full 19 days in 2017. My digestive system did not get the rest and recovery which it has grown accustomed to annually.

So this year, I’m not waiting until February to begin preparing for the Fast in March. I’m beginning today!

You may be asking yourself – What does this have to do with Dreamwork?

Well, for one thing, I tend to have very interesting dreams during the Fast and that is a Joy to look forward to but the other thing is that my dreams in the past two weeks have been bringing to my attention some things which impacted me last year which resulted in my getting sick and missing out on the Fast.

Stay tuned for more to come!
